Announcing our Piccolo Spoleto Exhibit: Celebrating Women

The Center for Women marks its 20th Anniversary with “Celebrating Women,” a Piccolo Spoleto visual arts event featuring works by eight members of Women’s Caucus for Art Charleston. Artists include Karole Turner Campbell, Betsey Carter, Beckie Dobbs, Leigh Ann Davis, Linda Elksnin, Kate Landichow, Laura Szweda, and Lillian Trettin.

An opening reception kicks off the show from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25 at The Center for Women, 129 Cannon Street. The reception is free to the public. “Celebrating Women” will run during Piccolo Spoleto from May 28 through August 31, Monday through Friday. Go to www.c4women.org and wcacharleston.blogspot.com for further information.

The WCA/C4W Piccolo Exhibit is inspired by the work of photojournalist Paola Gianturco. Ms. Gianturco traveled the world for four years to photograph festivals that celebrate women. She also interviewed performers, vendors, spectators, governmental officials, and religious leaders. She published her photographs in her book, Celebrating Women, in 2004.
