WCA - Regional News

After a brief hiatus, WCA Charleston is up-and-running.. We kicked off the fall with an environmentally-themed show, “Gaea, Goddess of the Earth.” The show ran from September 21 through October 31 at The Real Estate Studio in Charleston . Janice Rossman, a local gallery director, considered the framework of “earth personified” to curate the exhibition. Participating artists included Sandra Brett, Betsey Carter, Leigh Ann Davis, Stephanie Drawdy, Linda Elksnin, Laura Liberatore Szweda, and Lillian Trettin. Our October 20 meeting was a brainstorming session that helped us identify organization goals, including member services and outreach activities. Meetings for the remainder of the year are scheduled. Wcacharleston.blogspot.com continues to be a great source of information for members of the arts community. Finally, WCA Charleston joined Charleston Arts Coalition (CAC!). The goals of CAC! are to unite and sustain the greater Charleston Arts Community by acting as a forum for collaborating on projects, exchanging ideas, and hosting special events.

Charleston Arts Coalition -Creative Town Hall Recap

Greetings!

Thank you for attending the Creative Town Hall hosted by the Charleston Arts Coalition, in partnership with the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship at the College of Charleston. We hope you found inspiration, made new connections and gathered ideas.

If you were unable to attend, the survey results announced at the Town Hall are available on our website. There was wonderful response to the survey and so many relevant ideas, concerns, and needs were brought to light as a result.

Please take a few moments to look through the survey results and think about what and how they apply to you and how you can get involved in making the dreams and goals of the Charleston arts community a reality.

Creatively,
The Charleston Arts Coalition

Hello Friends,

Help us bring awareness to September 21, the International Day of Peace and Cease Fire. We want the community to be involved in expressing visually what peace means to them. Submit your bio, artist statement, and an example of your work to entry@walkgallery.org by August 24, 2009. We will be in contact with you via email on details of the show (installation dates, etc.).
